Presently the WPPA consists of 66 teams which accommodates 1000 boys and girls. Each team has a head coach that is appointed by the league. If you are a parent of a child in the league and wish to be a coach, you need only complete a Coaches application that will be available at the time of registration. Returning coaches receive priority should the coach applicants exceed the available coaching positions.

If you do not have a child in the league and wish to coach, you are considered a non-parent volunteer and must complete a background check conducted by the Chicago Park District. The forms and instructions for this background check can be picked up at the front desk of the Welles Park field house located at 2333 w. Sunnyside Avenue, and should be submitted directly to the Park District. If you are interested in coaching in our league we suggest you review the Coaches Manual and WPPA Rule Book that are posted on this web site. This will answer many questions, provide a great overview of how our league operates, and provide insight into what is required of our coaches.
